Bolton Abbey
It is often talked about amongst our group of friends “lets go on a day trip somewhere, get out of Leeds’ but it’s not often achieved, through hangovers, lethargy, cash or willing drivers.
Somehow we managed to get it together on one of the most splendid days of August.
After some faux road rage and an amazing dramatic performance by Ben who got out of the car in a fit of fake anger and kicked the car in fronts wheel (the car in front was not a toyota. But it was Saltys) to the amazement of the other road users and passersby!
We decided on Bolton Abbey which was an amazing choice, gorgeous stroll around the ruins followed by a trek around the river including an eventful few minutes persuading Harry NOT to jump across the Strid.
Harry jumped across the Strid.
For those of you not in the know, the Strid is an area approximately 6ft across which the river wharf pushed through at immense speed.
No one who has ever fallen in the Strid has survived. That is not an exaggeration.
Harry likes jumping. He likes jumping a lot. His parents know this. His parents have told him many times not to jump the Strid.
Harry jumped the Strid.
Harry survived. Harry is proud. I was anxious.
Adam got stung by a wasp (again) and a stinging nettle and hit his head.
After we had recovered from this we ventured on in the glorious sunshine, ate ice cream, discussed which dogs were worthy of kidnap.
Roo was terrified of the tree with pennies stuck in it. I thought it was kinda cool!
Stepping stone rage.
All finished off with an EPIC carvery and much food eating competition!
Amazing!
Sunshine love to Roo, Lou, Tom, Adz, Rik, Salty, Harry and Ben.
What a lot of fun =)
