Moor Fest 2010
Hoorah! one of my favourite festival, the little known but much whispered about Moor Fest set in the beautiful landscape of Skipton.
My 4th time at moor fest and i was expecting the usual downpour and muddy trodging with happy smiles and at first glimpse it appeared my expectations were confirmed, but after a day or so the maker smiled on the bunch of straggly music lovers, hippies, indie-kids, chavs(oh yes there were a few chavs ‘WHAT WAS THE ONE THING I TOLD YOU? DON’T SHAG CLIVE!) an the sun shone (and burnt the backs of) festival goers young and old!
I wasn’t especially excited about the line up this year, with the strange rule of not allowing bands to play 2 years in a row (a rule that doesn’t apply to certain bands - mainly deservedly so) I had seen an amazing line up the year previous so was willing to take a step into the musical unknown and hear some new bands.
I was not disappointed, this Moor Fest was one of the best yet. Even the higher ratio of chavsters provided some brilliant entertainment around bedtime, it was like going to sleep with a rather amazing episode of Jeremy Kyle on in the background, one where the audience were incessantly inhaling laughing gas!
My thanks go out to all at the Ladybird tent, old and new acquaintances who made us feel extremely welcome, looked after us well with shelter, electricity, songs, juggles and good times!
Another shout out to all at the Green Room for looking after our hangovers and making sure we had a warm carpeted, sofa-ed area in which to play cards throughout the morning while we got our energy back!
And of course mega love to Ralph and Katie who provided rich sources of amusement throughout!
Boo to the rubbish hippy quiz in the shisha tent! (although we did come second!)
And MEGA excited thanks to the fellas who built the mini golf course which I, yes I Emily French got the top score out of the WHOLE festival!!! photographic proof to come when i get my film developed!!
All in all a blissful weekend,
one final thank you to the lovely chaps from Hope and Social for giving us a lift home on the sunday night when we were far too partied out to consider waking up in chavland for a 5th morning!
Long live Moor Fest!
